Carly Rogers is a writer/director from Portland, Maine with a passion for telling stories grounded in reality, and a talent for landing one-liners.
As a writer, she has completed several feature length screenplays in both the comedy and drama genres that are ripe for the big screen. She is currently developing two half-hour comedy series based on original ideas. Most recently she has begun work on her debut novel, a comedic romance which, like the writer, is not lacking in sarcastic jokes or affection for happy hour.
As a director, she has completed several short films including Color, the story of a mixed-race police officer who is faced with the harsh realities of identifying as both Black and blue. The film was featured in several festivals, including the Roxbury International Film Festival, and the March on Washington Film Festival where it won the Emerging Filmmaker award. She has also been lauded for her producing work, with several of her short films as a producer making the festival rounds and winning various awards. She’s well known on set for curating the best snacks and reminding everyone in times of stress that we are not performing brain surgery.
A natural entertainer, she relocated to sunny Los Angeles from New England just when it started raining every winter. She holds her MFA in Film and Television Production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts, and has spent several years using her copywriting and design talents in unscripted television development.
A former athlete and avid Boston sports fan, she’s always on the hunt for compelling stories from the sports world that could make even the strongest souls cry before the opening credits finish. Never one to say no to a little adventure, she always comes to brunch with a good story to tell.
